The new generation of R-Series is now available with integral cable options
MTS Sensors, a division of MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), announces the addition of integral cable options to its fifth generation of Temposonics R-Series sensors with Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI).
The R-Series V sensors with Temposonics technology provide high accuracy and precision for linear position feedback in industrial applications. In addition, new capabilities supporting Industry 4.0 applications offer information such as operating hours, distance travelled and number of actuator cycles. Expanding upon its previous release of R-Series V with Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI), MTS now offers the sensor with integral cable options suitable for harsh environments with ingress protection of IP68 and robustness to shock and vibration.
The new integral cable options for SSI include multiple material options for differing applications, including a standard PVC jacket, oil-resistant Polyurethane (PUR), PUR jacket with high-performance shielding, or Teflon jacket. Temposonics R-Series V is currently available in two types: rod style and profile style. It also supports EtherCAT, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, and Powerlink outputs.
Temposonics® R-Series V SSI sensors share many of the same features as the Ethernet protocols in the product family. They are robust and reliable, and they support an extended operating temperature range from -40° to +85 °C. Like other R-Series V sensors, the shock resistance has been increased to 150 g and vibration increased to 30 g. The SSI interface is suitable for high-performance motion control applications with 0.1 micron resolution and a synchronous measurement to ensure consistent timing for velocity calculations.
The new generation sensors are completely backward compatible due to their proven electrical and mechanical connections and designs. The R Series V delivers the well-known high performance and quality of previous R-Series generations, while adding more advanced features and intelligent functions.
